Is This You?

  • You’ve tried Pilates before but haven’t really been sure you’ve been doing the exercises right.   The big classes don’t help.  And often feel too much like ordinary “tums and bums” classes. You want more personal, tailored help with your fitness goals and you want results.
  • You have various persistent aches and pains you’d like to get rid of. You want to improve your posture and feel better generally. But it’s been a while since you’ve done any exercise and you want to be sure that you’re not going to injure yourself doing too much.
  • You have regular treatment from a chiropractor, physio, or the like – but you never seem to get to the root of the problem.  You feel better for a few days, but then the problems come back.
  • You are overweight and want rid of the spare-tyre.  But you hate the idea of a gym.  You are not sure you believe that it’s possible for you to have the body you want because you’ve tried so may other things that just left you disappointed.
  • You’ve been told (or you think) you have Sciatica. Nothing seems to help for long.
  • You like to keep fit, but now you are looking for a more mind-body approach that still delivers results – especially improving your performance .  You want exercises specifically suited to the type of sport you do. Your current activities emphasise some muscle groups over others and you want more balance, more strength and to be better protected from injury.
  • You’ve recently had a baby and you want to get your figure back. But you know you can’t just throw yourself back into exercise. You’re also doing a lot more lifting and are aware that that can also take its toll on your back. You want to be able to trust that your instructor knows what they’re doing.
  • You suffer from a chronic condition that affects how your body works. And you still want to exercise. You want to feel empowered to take control of your own health and to do what you can to improve your condition

What’s possible for you…

Over the years I’ve worked successfully with hundreds of people with a whole heap of different fitness goals, many with physical limitations too:

  • people with: sciatica, lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, osteoporosis,  spondylitis, neurological conditions,  abnormal curvatures of the spine, stroke victims, fused spines, prolapsed discs, wheelchair bound, MS, and more
  • pregnant women and new mothers
  • serious sports people (footballers, golfers, dancers, horseriders, rugby players, fitness instructors, cyclists, even extreme marathon runners…)
  • men and women who haven’t exercised in years

“I often discuss Pilates with patients who have chronic back pain and routinely mention it to women at their post-natal check…”
(read a GPs opinion)

I truly believe that everyone can benefit from my methods, but you will see the best results if you are:

  • willing to become more aware of your body and how it functions and to apply this mind-body awareness in the classes. (Don’t worry if this is new to you – you’ll soon pick it up.)
  • prepared to practise the exercises outside of class.  Just a few minutes (10-15) every other day would dramatically improve your results
  • ready to go beyond “one-size-fits-all” approaches and learn what works for you

One client says: “I’ve gained so much – posture much more upright, greater upper-body strength, improved muscle tone and improved overall fitness” (read more…)
